HOWARTH TIMBER NAMES THE COVASETTES AS NEXT BIG THING IN LOCAL MUSIC LIVE COMPETITION

We’ve concluded this year’s nationwide Local Music Live competition by naming The Covasettes as our favourite act for 2018. The indie band will now have the opportunity to perform at this year’s prestigious Audio & Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS).

We once again sponsored Local Music Live, where singer/songwriters and bands were able to submit their songs to localmusiclive.org. This year, 600 entrants participated, collectively submitting over a thousand songs.

After two months of the competition being open, Local Music Live and our panel of judges chose the overall favourite, deciding to award The Covasettes with this year’s top prize.

The quartet, based in Manchester’s student town of Fallowfield, have won the fantastic opportunity to present their music to a wider audience with a set at the ARIAS later this year. This huge event will see the UK’s biggest radio stars gather together at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. The star-studded evening boasts previous performers like Grammy-award winner Gregory Porter and BRIT-award winners, the Kaiser Chiefs.

Not only will The Covasettes have the opportunity to perform at the ARIAS, but their prize also includes the chance to record a track at Redwall Studios in Greater Manchester, as well as shoot a music video with Leeds-based creative agency, Harris.

The quality of this year’s acts meant that choosing the favourite was by no means an easy decision, but The Covasettes caught our attention straight away thanks to their catchy lyrics and anthemic sound. We’d like to congratulate The Covasettes on the start of what will no doubt be a successful music career.
