HOWARTH TIMBER TEAM SHINES AT SKILLS EVENT

A team of eight women from across our business recently picked up their tools and took part in the Practical Building Skills Challenge hosted by the Institute of Builders Merchants (IoBM) and the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF).

The team, comprised of Charlotte Hancock, Rebecca Hill, Imogen Howarth, Katie Mamwell, Steph Masterson, Hayley Parker, Melanie Taylor, and Fiona Wainwright competed in a series of challenges, testing their joinery, block paving, plastering, brickwork and tiling skills.

Designed to be both enjoyable and beneficial, the event offered the team a taste of some of the main building disciplines that will underpin their product and practical knowledge.

Howarth Timber’s national sales manager, Mark Terry, said: “It was a fantastic team-building exercise and the team members all gained a variety of skills that will significantly improve their knowledge of the industry.”

Allan Durning, president of the IoBM, said: “Each year we see more and more merchants testing their skills and competing in the challenge. With the additional support from the Federation of Master Builders, this year has been one of our most successful to date.”
